These Sentry safe locks have been used for many years on various Sentry safes. They can be found on gun safes with a digital combination lock as an over ride key, it can be a separate dual control key lock or a key only operated safe.
Sentry Universal Smart Key
This revolutionary new tool will instantly open all of the Sentry 6 lever locks using a double bitted pin type key containing "limited travel" levers that have been used for about the last 12 years. The photo of the 5 locks on the left is what this tool is designed for. After each use you simply replace the tip on the end and it's ready to open the next lock.

It is actually a smart key that instantly forms the correct key bitting by simply turning the tool with your fingers. It opens the lock as easily as the actual key. The complete tool kit comes with the permanent turning tool and 12 replacement tips. Replacement tips can be purchased separately as needed. Other components are included in the kit so nothing else needs to be purchased to use the tool easily and successfully!
Why does it work?
This lock uses an unusual design lever where the lever travel is indicative of the cut of the key. The screwdrivers are pointing to the difference in the levers that dictate the lever travel. The top lever would require a very deep cut on the key because it barely moves compared to the lever below it that has to be raised in order to align at the stump.

This is an example of a key only operated Sentry safe using this design key lock that withdraws the locking bolt by means of the key.
