The theory of using a pointer system to enhance the readings has been used for years.  The long standing problem with a pointer is the way it mounts to the dial often eliminates the area to grip area of the dial.  This new concept solves two problems simultaneously.  It allows you to attach different length pointers accurately to the dial and more importantly, you now have a perfect grip area to control the dial.  The tool installs in minutes without damaging the dial on the safe in any way.  As with all Lock Defeat Technology LLC products, the quality and precision machining of the components is unmatched.

The tool includes two size dial covers.  Each dial cover precisely fits a number of  different dials.  The kit also comes with three internal adaptor rings.  One ring fits inside the large size dial cover and the other two fit inside  the smaller dial cover.  By using these combinations of adaptor rings, the tool will most modern dials exactly. 

There are three different length pointers supplied in each kit that can be threaded into each dial cover.  The unique feature of this tool is the graduated scale that is mounted to the safe by two Neodymium magnets.  The most important feature of the scale is the height adjustable capability.  You can dial it to the exact height so the pointer tip is just slightly above the scale.  There are two each of two different scales supplied in the kit.  There is a straight design and an offset design.  The offset design is much easier to see if the safe dial is low.  The kit now includes 2 magnetic bases to allow you to set a scale at the left and right contacts if you prefer to read them both simultaneously.

 The two dial covers and three adaptor rings are made from high strength lightweight Delrin and the pointers are made from aluminum.  Since Delrin is about half the weight of aluminum, the mass of the tool does not add additional undesirable weight to the dial.  To ensure a lifetime of performance of the tool, the threaded holes are equipped with stainless steel Helicoils which provides excellent thread strength.  The grip area of the dials have been covered by rubber which gives you a perfect area to feel the contact points.  Not only is it a perfect surface to spin the dial quickly but it is one inch in length for a very comfortable and consistent feel.  By using this tool on every job, you will have the exact same feel of the dial without fighting with an unusual shape or limited size of the existing dial design. 

 This tool kit was specifically designed to fit many dials exactly.  By simply applying the correct dial cover and adaptor combination, the tool is exactly centered on the dial.  This eliminates the problem of having an "out of balance" dialing device on the dial which is very distracting.  Here is what dials the tool is designed to fit.  The large dial cover with fit the Lagard Vision Guard spy dial and some Diebold & Mosler/Ilco spy dials.  By adding the internal tapered adaptor ring, it will fit the Lagard Restrict-a-Vision spy and the Big Red spy dial.
The small dial cover will fit S&G front & spy type convertible dials.  By adding in the thin adaptor ring, it will fit Lagard & Big Red front reading dials.  By adding in the thick internal taper adaptor ring, it will fit the old style S&G front and spy type small knob design.  *********OTHER DESIGN DIALS********** The tool kit components will fit almost any dial that it will fit over.   While this kit is intended to fit exactly most modern dial designs, you can fit it onto many other dials.  Choose the smallest internal size dial cover and adaptor ring to fit over the knob.  Adjust the four set screws evenly to center the dial cover.  On some older odd style dials, you can use a washer or any other device as a spacer to raise the dial cover off of the dial so the screws hit on an optimum position on the dial knob area.

The next 2 photos are using the small dial cover on the S&G convertible type dial with a 3" pointer.   I have positioned the dial at "0" and have set the scale at "0" as well.  Notice the following photo with a 1 number change on the dial has changed the scale pointer reading 2 whole numbers with a total of 4 lines changed.  Using this set-up translates a .25 change on the dial will read an entire line change on the scale.  Your ability to see a .25 change in contact points is now greatly enhanced.  If you happen to be using the larger dial cover on an appropriate dial with the 3" pointer installed, the line change on the scale for .25 contact change will even be more noticeable.

The dial cover knob is perfectly machined and with the rubber grip you can quickly and accurately input your dialing sequence.  The pointer accuracy to the scale eliminates a change of viewing angle if your head changes position.  Since there is virtually no gap between the pointer and the scale, a change of angle doesn't change the reading dramatically.  Since changes at the pointer are so much easier to see than on the dial, you can quickly take your reading without tediously fine tuning your contact point.  This eliminates wasted time in the dialing process.  While many seasoned manipulators are very good with the dialing sequence, the most likely failure to see a reading is due to poor vision or lack of attention.  This kit eliminates the problem and your success rate will dramatically increase  in addition to a  much shorter time.
